Actually I confuse where should I start to share about my recent extraordinary experience in Pare. Firstly telling you about Pare, the one of extraordinary villages in Kediri East Java, is qiute important to be shared. As I told before Pare is the one of famous villages in Kediri East Java, in which it takes more or less 20 hours trip by land used train from Bogor to Pare – will be given the trip details in the another posting. Pare has another name called Kampung Inggris. Because it provides lots of professional english courses – the latest survey result informs that there are more than 80 course centres exsisted in Pare.
Pare has saveral villages Actually, one of them are Tulungrejo, in which the existence of Kampung Inggris can be found. Besides English, other foreign language course places is existed such as arabic, france, and mandarin as well. Entering into Tulungrejo, given a different situation, both the language most people used and the learners spirit but not the village condition – it has the same condition as the other villages actually. Both of villagers and learners still use bicycle as their public transportation, so it is scarcery to find over the car as public transportation there. It not only the transportation factor supported the village condition but the cost of living spent both very inexpensive and achievable for everyone. The village ever gets the award of ADIPURA in 1995 because of the cleanliness and the tidiness of it, but surely it not only those factors but also there are other factors being the consideration awarded ADIPURA to the village – both people geniality and transquality.
Going arround the village there are so many both interesting and natural places to visit comprising the historical statues – candi surowono and candi tegowangi, the underground ancient cave – gowa surowono, till the modern and magnificient architecture such as Simpang Lima Gumul, Garuda Monument or well know as the Garuda Park, Chandha Bhirawa stadium, alun-alun kota Pare and the magnificient mosque of masjid Agung Kota Pare.
The picture beside is the photograph of candi tegowangi, which is built in 1330 C by the king of Majapahit as the obliatory gift for the certain king after 12 years from the death. Commonly Its size is about 11.20 m x 11.20 m and 4,30m for the height and it usually square in shape and faced to the west. Getting there is only about 45 minutes by bike from Kampung Inggris. For the tickets, we just need to pay 500 rupiahs per visit.
This is the photograph of candi surowono, the purpose the giver, the shape and the position are as well as the previos candi is. But not the size it is smaller than candi tegowangi. The travelled distance from Kampung Inggris to this site takes only 30 minutes by bike, and as well as the first candi, we just have to spend 500 rupiahs per visit. Near from this site, candi surowono, exists the underground ancient cave which is used by the people as a hiding place from the enemy in the past, that is gowa surowono, besides as a hiding place, it is also used as the secret path
for them to attack the enemy. But poorly, at this moment people use it both as a worship place to God and as a place for doing something rude. But the cave is very challenging to be explored. It has 300 meters in length which has already been explored. It is devided into 5 parts or gates, but there are only 3 gates that are allowed to be explored. Getting inside the cave we have to be guided by the expert because it is too dark and complicated to explore, besides the path is very narrow for the adult also there are so many trap paths or labirynth which are impossible to get back if taken the wrong path.
The last places that don’t be passed to visit in Pare are simpang lima gumul, garuda park, chandha bhirawa stadium, the magnificient mosque, MAsjid Agung Kota Pare and alun-alun kota Pare. Actually you won’t suppose you are in the village when you are in Gumul, simplified it can be staded that it is the metropolitant in the middle of village. On its wall there are the series carved objects made from the concrete telling about not only the traditional folklores but the local potencies from Kediri as well, and
in each corner of the great wall there is sclupture of Ganesha. The main function of the great wall of gumul is actually as the five section branches of the road or as the circle which connects 5 main streets of saverals directions to the big cities in east java. Actually It is better to be visited in the night. Besides the temperature also we both can find lots of traditional culinaire seller of Kediri and the magnificient colorful lights in the night as well.
Actually I still want to share more about my extraordinary experiences in Pare. But I have to stop it now because I will continue it in the next posting.
Pare gave me lots of valuable and exrtraordinary experiences. Learn from mistakes to be better, always try hard on achieving goals and responsibility is everything. Besides them, there is another thing I got that is friends. Boarding house mate of Johan House, classmate of Elfast English course and great teachers of Elfast as well. Thanks all for the great and magnificient story. Eureka Pare and I love it.
